Your images never leave your device
convert.pics converts images entirely inside your browser. Decoding, resizing, and re-encoding all happen locally on your device using WebAssembly. No image is ever uploaded — files are never transmitted to a Panomity GmbH server or to any third party, for conversion or for storage. Once the page has loaded, conversion keeps working even without an internet connection.
This isn't an optional mode: it's the only way the tool works. There is no server-side fallback to route around.
No accounts, no cookies
No registration or account is required to use this site, and convert.pics does not set cookies of its own.
If you dismiss the optional “Install convert.pics” hint, your browser keeps a single local flag (convert-pics:install-hint-dismissed) so the hint stays dismissed — it contains no identifier, is never transmitted anywhere, and disappears when you clear your browser data.
Anonymous usage statistics
convert.pics uses Matomo, a self-hosted, cookieless analytics tool, to see how many people visit which pages — run by us at statsdeluxe.com/statistics/ (site ID 207), on our own server in Germany, not by a third-party analytics company. It is configured without cookies, anonymizes IP addresses before anything is stored, and honors your browser's Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals: if either is set, Matomo does not record the visit at all. Because it is cookieless and IP-anonymized, no cookie-consent banner is required for this specific setup under German/EU rules. Matomo never receives image data — it never has, and it never will — and every request it makes is listed openly in the tool's proof panel, so you can verify that yourself rather than take our word for it. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in understanding which pages are actually used.
Sharing a result
After a successful conversion, an optional share button lets you send the result link to someone else, using your device's native share sheet or a copied link if that isn't available. A shared link may carry a ?utm_source=share parameter, so we can see that a visit came from a share — nothing else is added or tracked beyond that.
Server access logs
Like virtually every web server, ours automatically records standard technical information on each visit: IP address, browser type, and timestamp. This data is used solely to keep the site secure and running reliably (a legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is deleted automatically after a short period. It is not cross-referenced with any other data source. Apart from the anonymous statistics described above, this is the only processing of personal data connected with this website.
Hosting
This site runs on our own server, located in Germany, operated by Panomity GmbH.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you generally have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20), and objection (Art. 21) regarding your personal data. Requests can be sent to the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Which version applies
This English page summarizes the same facts as the German-language Datenschutzerklärung. For matters of German law, that German version is the legally binding text; this page is provided for convenience.
Changes
This privacy policy will be updated if and when our data processing changes.
